Who is Barbara?

Who was Barbara?

I started writing back in 2009. Back then I treated it as a sort of Digital diary. Incredibly personal and just aimed at the audience of friends and family. After finding my stride while in  New Zealand I met a girl and we started up a website together. At first it was good and my writing style evolved to be more technical. The cracks in that website began to show as soon as we started gearing it towards profit. Suddenly writing, my passion, had become something that I was whoring out.

My writing felt dirty and I began to loathe it.

And then we broke up.

And then slowly my voice began to come back. A few words here and there. Forming sentences, evolving into paragraphs and telling storys.

My love affair with words was back.

Who is Barbara now?

Now I don’t give a fuck. I am going to write and write and write. And some of it will be shit and some of it will be lewd but it will be honest. And isn’t that what it is all about.

Who is Barbara?

Barbara is a woman lost to the vast depths of the internet. I don’t know much about her but I do know she liked dinner.

  1. So… I’m loving the ‘don’t give a fuck’ attitude… I kind of feel the same to an extent… it’s so important to keep writing for yourself, even if you do write for other people… and for me, I try to stay honest to myself and genuine in showcasing my lifestyle through my blog.
    Thanks for your honesty!

Thanks for the comment. Sorry for the absurd lateness of my reply I have been working recently and internet has ranged from slow to non-existent!

Great man, finally I now know the story (and the fact that no one hacked your account!). Good to see you back again.

I agree with your thoughts, I have the same feeling for my blog. My blog has been successful in a way, but I try to ensure that I keep my own voice for it. There were plenty of opportunities to make money out of it, and I have to turn almost every offer down for the reason that I don’t want my blog be alienated by guest posts, top 10 tips etc.

I think it’s good to keep your own and your passion to your writing. This is what gets you good and engaged readers.

Welcome back and looking forward to hearing your thoughts again!

Thanks man it is good to be back. At the moment I am working on the write-ups for my last trip. I am slowly trying to build myself back up again as well but it is good being able to have it feeling pure again!

Your honesty is just awesome. Even “don’t giving a fuck” to who is Barbara now, you ended up having a really original name for your blog. Not everything in this world have to be obvious, and that’s why some things pop up in the middle of standards.
    Congratulations and keep going!

Thanks for taking the time to read my stuff. The whole Barbara thing kind of started off as an inside joke and just sort of mutated.
